SUMMER BECKONS AND ACTIVITIES COME TO LIFE
We’ve Organised New Outdoor Activities - Come and Join Us!
Keen to get out of lockdown as soon as we can, we’ve been looking for new ways of getting together outdoors. In the next few weeks, men and women from our membership are coming together to play walking football at Everest Community Centre, with walking/trotting! netball and rounders at Popley Fields following on behind. Do let us know if you’re interested. For those of you who aren’t members, there’s a reduced membership fee of £7.50 for just the summer, which covers as many activities as you would like to join. If you want to keep fit, join us for other exercise too. We’re already walking, cycling, playing croquet, and walking ‘with our cameras’.
And we’re still ‘Getting Together’ Indoors safely too
Do keep an eye on our Facebook page or our website; we will gradually be opening up some of our active indoor activities when regulations allow. And our excursions & holidays group has plans well under way. Beyond a pandemic - there’s no stopping them!
But for those of us who enjoy less energetic pastimes, technology still keeps us chatting to each other.
Groups are busy ‘touring’ museums and galleries together, quizzing, and practising their calligraphy. Others are discussing books, poetry, science, technology, or even learning a new language (we have four to choose from!) Some members are sharing their artwork, writing, sewing, knitting and patchwork. Others are researching their family history or playing bridge. All these activities come within your membership fee too.
Hopefully one of these outdoor activities might interest you, and as the weather warms, lunching, arts and music groups may well re-emerge into gardens too.
If you’re not on-line
Please phone if you’d like more details on any of these groups. We can keep in contact with you if you get in touch to make sure you’re up-to-date as more activities come to life in the summer sun. A warm welcome awaits!
