Chineham and Old Basing NWR (National Women's Register)

Our group continues to enjoy the relaxation of restrictions, particularly this month with one of our most popular meetings, a wine tasting, back by popular demand and now a regular fixture in our schedule. Once again it was a fun afternoon, sampling and learning about 12 different wines which was as enjoyable as always.

Would you open an umbrella indoors, or walk under a ladder? Do you throw spilled salt over your shoulder or cross your fingers for good luck? Well, we hope to find out at our September meeting when our topic for discussion will be superstitions. Where do they come from and which ones do we have ourselves?

Our monthly lunch club continues with a visit to the Four Horseshoes where choices included some lovely Thai food which went down very well. The book choice for the reading group was Small Pleasures by Chare Chambers and this was a first for our readers as it was enjoyed by all. Hopefully this month's choice, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, will be equally popular.

As well as our own group, NWR's National Group continues to provide a mixture of activities so if you would like to take advantage of all that our organisation offers do come along. Our monthly meetings are held at 2pm on first Monday and the Reading Group 8pm on 4th Thursday every month. If you want to make new friends, you are welcome to come along to any meeting with no obligation to join. You can be sure of a warm welcome.
