Christ Church News

Services: Since the start of the year we have continued to stream services on our YouTube channel https://youtube.com/c/ChristChurchChineham starting at 10am and lasting for around an hour. Join us live or catch up later in the day, and you can watch all our previous services there too. After the service we have a 30 minute live Zoom session where we can all say hello to each other over a cup of coffee and catch up with each other’s news. Our Zoom room number is 689 032 1462 – password 654321. Sermon themes in January have covered some darker issues, but ones which are relevant to the challenging times we are living through such as depression, and through one of the minor prophets of the Old Testament, Habbakuk who spoke of lament, doubt and waiting. More optimistically, just as we look for the signs of Spring as we move into February we will be looking at the hope that God offers us by exploring the theme of Heaven and the life after.

For updates, see our Facebook page, website, or contact the church office for up-to-date information (all details are given at the end of this article). Most days there is one person in the office and the phone is checked regularly for messages.

Groups: Sadly all our regular groups are still on hold until things improve with the virus. Sparklers parent/carer and toddler sessions are being run on Zoom - for details of how to log in, email our lovely group leader Tonya at tonya@christchurchchineham.org.uk who will be pleased to give you the details. Our pastoral care team are making regular calls (and where possible) doorstep visits to the elderly or more vulnerable members of our church family, so if you know anyone who would benefit from a call just let me know by emailing me at office@christchurchchineham.org.uk or ring 01256 474280. Our confidential prayer team will be happy to pray for you or for anyone you know who had been bereaved, sick, or suffering in any way - again use the office details to get in touch.

News: We're thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Basingstoke Foodbank who have provided a sturdy lidded box at the front of the building for donations of non perishable food items. We've always been happy to accept donations inside, but this has made things much easier by being accessible 24-7. You will find the box just by the defibrillator just to the left of the main entrance. The Foodbank will empty the box regularly. Your donations are much appreciated.

Easter: Building on the success of our Muddy Church trails and the Christmas Nativity Shed, we are starting to make plans for an exciting Easter Trail (COVID compliant) outside the Church, which will be great fun for children and adults alike. By then we hope that the bulbs planted by the community for Remembrance Sunday will be flowering and remind us all of new life and hope at the end of a dark winter. Contact the church for details nearer the time.

That's about all for now - hopefully next month we will be that bit closer to bringing you news of things starting to move in the right direction.

Blessings and best wishes to you all.
