Citizens Advice Basingstoke

Are you facing financial, employment or other difficulties during this current health crisis?

Although our office in Festival Place is closed, you can still contact Citizens Advice Basingstoke by email and over the telephone. You can be confident of independent, impartial and confidential advice and help in sorting out your problems.

As a result of current lockdown restrictions, we have arranged for more than 35 staff and volunteers to work from home wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so. Within a matter of days these workers were kitted out with all the equipment they needed, including computers, screens and in some cases even desks and chairs. We have increased supervisory and management support to ensure that our service continues to meet all the required standards.

We have already received numerous enquiries from clients struggling in these difficult times with Universal Credit, employment, debt, relationships, housing, and food shortages. These are just a small sample of the sort of queries we have seen:

· an approach from a key worker who had received an NHS letter advising him to stay at home and who was worried how he and his family could survive without a regular income

· enquiries from people struggling to understand whether they are employed or furloughed, whether they have an employment contract, and how their pay or Universal Credit will be calculated

· questions from NHS staff who have been put on “special leave” and from self-employed workers who are facing financial difficulties and debt.

If you need help, we are here to support you. Please contact us by telephone or email (via the website) as follows:
