Final chance to have your say on the borough’s future approach to community facilities

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Update

Final chance to have your say on the borough’s future approach to community facilities

Community groups, residents, and hirers of community facilities across the borough have until Sunday 15 August to share their views and help shape the borough’s future approach to facilities.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is updating its Leisure and Recreation Needs Assessment, which forms a framework for establishing the future approach to open space, sport and recreation, as well as considering how community buildings are serving community needs and how this can be improved for future years.

This is the final opportunity for everyone who uses community facilities across Basingstoke and Deane to have their say on the community facilities in their area, with views gathered providing crucial information on existing facilities, how they are used or could be used and how they could be improved in the future.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Planning and Infrastructure Cllr Simon Bound said: “As we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that along with our partners we develop opportunities for people to enjoy activities that contribute to their health and wellbeing in the heart of their communities.

“This is the final chance for our residents and groups to give us their views on community facilities in the borough so that we can understand what is working well and where we can provide support to make the biggest difference to residents’ lives.

“Whether you use the facilities regularly, occasionally or rarely, your thoughts and ideas will really help us to plan our approach to community facilities in the future.”
