Free family fun on offer this summer

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Update

Free family fun on offer this summer

Families across the borough will be able to enjoy free activities in the centre of Basingstoke this summer.

With the summer holidays now under way and following the lifting of COVID restrictions, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is working closely with local organisations to host free family activities every Friday throughout August at War Memorial Park.

Starting this Friday (6 August) between 11am and 3pm, activities on offer include arts and crafts, dance, sport, storytelling, and pop-up play activities and are aimed at children aged eight and under.

Families can also enjoy the new and improved children’s play area at War Memorial Park with zones for toddlers and juniors to enjoy new equipment, such as climbing equipment, swings, and roundabouts.

Cabinet Member for Communities, Planning and Infrastructure, Cllr Simon Bound said: “With school holidays now in full swing, many parents will be looking at what they can do with the children that will keep them amused and not break the bank.

“We are delighted to be working with local organisations to bring you a fantastic range of fun activities in one of the borough’s most-loved parks. Not only will it offer a great free day out for all the family, but we hope the activities will inspire families with new ideas for activities they could enjoy together throughout the summer."
