New round of Additional Restrictions Grant launched for borough’s businesses
Further financial support is now available for businesses who are not eligible for other government funding as they safely reopen following the easing of COVID restrictions.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has launched a new element of the Additional Restrictions Grant Scheme.
The new scheme will provide one-off grants to businesses who have business premises but are not eligible for other funding such as Restart Grants that only apply to businesses that pay business rates.
Businesses eligible for this new grant include non-essential retail businesses with grants of up to £6,000 and hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym premises with grants of up to £9,000, depending on their overhead costs.
In addition, one-off grants of up to £2,500 will be available for taxi businesses.
Both grant schemes will run until Friday 14 May but may close sooner due to limited funding.
More information on the eligibility of both schemes can be found at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/local-restrictions-support-grant
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Executive Director of Corporate Services Sue Cuerden said: “We know this has been a difficult year for many businesses, and in particular those who are not eligible for other government funding schemes, and this new round of ARG funding is available to those businesses who need that helping hand. “We hope these one-off payments will provide eligible businesses with much-needed financial support and help to protect people’s jobs for the future. As we have limited funding available through this scheme, I would encourage all businesses in the borough who are eligible for this funding to apply as part of this new round to allow us to administer this support as quickly as we can.”
